MardeCetáceos is a Latin American information network on management and non-lethal use of cetaceans. It encompasses Non-Governmental Organizations which understand that cetaceans are a resource shared by nations. For this reason, they join efforts to promote the exchange of information related to non-lethal research, cetacean observation, and regional conservation strategies.
MardeCetáceos opens a new communication channel to show the world that Latin America defends its right to non-lethal use of cetaceans.
This Project is a joint initiative by Instituto de Conservación de Ballenas, Fundación Cethus and Organización para la Conservación de Cetáceos with the support of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
Several organizations are working for the marine conservation throughout Latin America. They generate very valuable information, supporting through knowledge the need for adopting real actions to guarantee the protection of cetaceans and their habitat. MardeCetáceos aims to facilitate the access to this information, to promote exchange and coordinate regional conservation strategies and actions.
