Participating organizations have the following goals through MardeCetáceos:
To show Latin American position about cetacean management and non-lethal use.
To facilitate the access to information related with non-lethal research, whale watching, and regional conservation strategies in Latin America.
To provide evidence of the scientific basis that supports the need for adopting concrete actions to guarantee the protection of cetaceans in the oceans (like the establishment of sanctuaries and protected marine areas).
To highlight the importance of whale watching in the region as an economic growth alternative, which brings direct benefits to the communities that develop it, and ensures the preservation of the natural marine heritage.
