1st International Workshop on Management and Non-lethal Use of Cetaceans
September 27-29, 2005 – Puerto Pirámides, Chubut, Argentina.
Organized by Instituto de Conservación de Ballenas (Argentina) and sponsored by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
The workshop had the participation of more than 50 representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Scotland, United States, Mexico, Panama, Peru, South Africa, Uruguay and Venezuela. Its main objective was to promote strategies oriented to consolidate the right of countries to use whale resources in non-lethal ways. Recommendations from this workshop were presented by argentine delegates at the 58th annual meeting of the International Whaling Comission.
